I received my express upgrade disk yesterday and I used it to do a clean install on my dell e1505. Everything seems to be working ok, but I have a major problem with System Restore.
I have System Restore turned on for both my C: and D: partitions. I can get the system to create as many restore points as I want, but whenever I shutdown or restart the machine, all restore points are deleted.
I went so far as to do a second complete clean install, and I still have the same problem.
Anyone have any suggestions?

I just tried creating a restore point and then trying to restore. Everything seemed normal until I entered my password and got back to the vista desktop. I was greeted with this error:
There was an unexpected error.
The parameter is incorrect (0x80070057)
Please close System Restore and try again.
It seems as if it keeps forgetting where it's putting the restore information. Is it possible that I need to change a setting somewhere? -
I finally got my system restore fixed by doing yet another clean install of vista.
This time I made sure to format my C: partition before doing the install. Everything worked this time.
One thing that I found to be interesting...
Once you have done a complete install of Vista (using the Express Upgrade DVD) it is very easy to do subsequent clean installs.
So, now I have a complete installation of Vista that I can easily wipe clean any time that I want and I still have my my valid XP key just in case.
