there is some problem.. My vista notebook says dat i have used up 20 GB of HDD in 11 days.. which i am sure i havnt.. My windows folder and personal files everything combined comes to less than 10GB as of now.. (m still transferring my files)
Is this bcoz of the system restore facility? i think it on an auto mode.. i have some 19 restore points.. almost 2 in a day.. so, can it be the reason? if yes, how do i remove it? will a disk clean up remove all the restore point?

That is most definitely the problem. Go to disk cleanup then click on the "More Options" tab. Then click on the System Restore and Shadow Copies and click Clean up. I do that every week or so and it restores about 10 GIGS.

I'm not sure if it works on vista, but you could try WinDirStat to see what's taking up space.

disk clean up did work! thanks.. Will try windirstat anyways..

You can shut this off and do manual restore points before you are going to make a change. It is not recommended of course, but the option is there.
Doing this also helped my performance in Vista slightly.
Control Panel - System - System Protection - Uncheck the disk that has automatic restore points enabled
