Hi
I was using system mechanic pro to tweak the start menu and after some time I noticed the recently used list was empty. I tried to revert everything back to default, uninstall the tool and re enable the list from windows settings. But no joy. A forum asked to go to registry and change a value from 4 to 3,did that and didn't work as well.Any one know how to make it default, running Win 7.
Thanks,screenshot below.

I never use programs like that. They always seem to honk something up. I went to their website. What a looser. No contact page, No forum page, No help page. All red flags. Did you get any contact info from them when you installed that program? If so contact them and ask them for help as you seem to think that their program caused your problem. I would un-install it.

If you have a restore point I would try rolling back, or maybe a win 7 repair install will fix it. The safest way would be to right click the start button - properties - start menu - customize - enable devices and printers - documents- games -help - highlight new.. - music- personal folder- pictures ... - sort all prog. menu by name
There is also a button in the dialog - use default settings ...
BTW nice avatar from a great show!The_Observer likes this. -

Thanks for the info.
The restore to default settings didn't work. Anyways i found a life saver from here with Regedit:
Recent Programs - Enable or Disable - Windows 7 Help Forums
All is well now.
