I attempted to do a system recovery on my laptop from the recovery partition, but it failed. Everything was going all right: formatting, software installation, etc, and all of a sudden, I got the message: Recovery attempt failed!. I think that maybe the recovery files got corrupted somehow. I am doing a second attempt with the recovery discs and crossing my fingers. I guess it's going to take a lot longer!

I am typing this on another computer.

Anyone had that happened to them? Any advice?

    Thanks.

I'm guessing this is on your HP, using HP recovery disks? :)

if so, yes i got that before. It turned out my HDD's format was corrupted and Hp's retarded recovery disks couldnt fix it. So i used a real OS disk (well actually a Dell recovery disk, but its basically the same thing) and that worked fine. ;)
