Hello. This problem just started this morning.

My laptop will not boot up; when it gets to the "starting windows" portion of Windows 7 it hangs and the HD light is steady. I can't even run windows repair or get into safe mode.

    What caused this?

    Don't know what caused it.

You wouldn't run a windows repair from the HDD anyway. Boot from the Windows 7 DVD that you used to install W7 and follow the instructions to do a repair.

What happens when you try to boot safe mode... where does it hang??

Also I don't quite understand why you can't get into repair. Is it because it won't boot off the dvd? Or does the loading into the repair on the dvd hang too??
