Hello everyone,
I just ordered a new IBM T60p and chose Vista Business as the OS, later I decided to stick with XP since the notebook will be used primary for work so I didn't want to mess with any program compatibility issues with Vista.
Well, I called Friday to change my order but it was in the process of shipping....so finally to my question....I can buy a copy of XP but if I install it will I lose any Thnkpad apps that are preinstalled, and if so, are they even useful? I also asked tech support if they can send me an XP backup CD (for which I have no problem paying) and they were kind of clueless, their recommendation was to return the notebook and order another one configured with XP.
TIA.

You might want to check on Levono's website to possibly download those applications (if you find any useful) for XP. I don't know, but it's an idea.
We have a moderator ZaZ here that might be able to offer more info than I, PM him and ask him to post in this thread.
Personally, I find XP to be so much better right now. Maybe once Vista SP1 is out, it will be a different story. -
You can install XP, but you'll lose the recovery partition and the ThinkVantage button if you care. The applications should be in the IBMTools folder. The drivers and ThinkVantage tools can be downloaded from Lenovo's website. If it is unopened you can return it without a restocking fee though Lenovo may charge a small fee. Then just get the one you want though that will mean you'll have to wait a bit longer.
