I bought the Pinnacle HDTV tuner from best buy about a month ago, and recently it has been acting weird. When ever I record a show and go back to watch it, video play back is all wacked out, the best way I can explain it is that video plays as normal for a few minutes then it seems to go into slow motion then fast forward randomly for the rest of the recording, audio also will cut in and out. I have only recored a few times in the past for about 10 mins or so and it has been fine. I guess my question is, is this a hardware problem or software related? I have done a reinstall and it did not seem to help. My computer should be more than capable of handing DVR functions (comp in sig). Also the receipt I had for the tuner got ruined from a spilled drink do you think I can still take it back to Best Buy if the problem persists?

I would think you would have to send it back to the manufacturer. Don't they have a number for you to call for tech support? Are you using WMP for playback? If so, try another player.

By that if you mean reinstalled Windows, then it could be a hardware error. The only other reason I could think of is a codec problem. But a Windows re installation should have fixed it.

Sorry for not being more clear, I did a reinstall of the software that came with the tuner not windows, I did realize that I was recording from an atenna and that could be the culprit, I am going to test it out with cable after work. -

Yes, that is with windows media player, the player that came with the tuner won't play the recorded shows at all. I just tried to call best buy to ask about the return policy but no one would pick up

Try VLC or Gom players.

I believe it is software, it a usb tuner if that helps, and I don't usually have anything else running while it is recording b/c I only record when i am not home.
