    Hi,
I've been going inside out and backward searching for a desktop replacement laptop that will still be useful four or five years from now, and have looked at several--Acer, HP, Compaq--and am very interested in the Fujitsu N6200 (url below)...I am NOT a gamer (though I'm beginning to thing they might be fun to try, but am afraid they're addictive). And because this will primarily be used around the house and not on the road, the weight isn't a big issue.

But I've noticed that the high-end fujitsu allows for TV tuners and a DVR function--I like that and might be able to swing the extra cost for work reasons--but I was under the impression that one needed Windows Media Center OS to do that. This unit is XP home. So, do I or don't I need Media Center?

(PS, I'm not a tech type, and this will be my first laptop)

    Thanks

You do not need XP MCE in order to have the TV functionality - there is alternative software avaliable, for example, what Fujitsu uses.

So, you can pretty much get any laptop you want, hook up a TV tuner, install the software that came with it, and still be able to watch TV.
