Is there no one like me who just wants to set their laptop on top of their receiver, plug in and go? What's with all this IR repeater cable crap? Why would I want to control from my computer when the box is right there? I don't have whatever cable that is necessary. Windows Media Center won't finish setup unless I connect this stupid IR cable to cover the IR port on the receiver. I would bet that my direct tv remote would work a thousand times better than whatever crap Msucks decided I needed. Anyone know of software that will just let me control via my direct tv box? I really just want it to record shows onto my laptop on occasion and it seems ridiculous for me to have to use this IR repeater cable.
In summary: Good DVR software, no need for IR repeater cable.
