Would like to try it but its... alpha.
Thanks for the news anyway.
-
sorry Silas, my main site Yahoo.com - total disaster, in rendering and speed. Had to go back to 9.62 or mask it as FF.
So, i guess the bird is still hobbling.
cheers ... -

I love Opera and am excited to try this. Thanks.

I'm learned my lesson: Alphas sound fun, but its never worth the irritation of having an alpha + normal version because you will only use one of them (the one that works).
Anyways still great news because it means the beta, and thus the gold version are on their way. -

Thats a load of features.
I'll wait for the Beta

Guys, this is the first Alpha version of O10. I posted this as a news, so that you all know that it's coming, not to install and test it!
-
inline spell checker finally! i have always loved opera but just could do without my inline spell check that i am used to with firefox.
going to download alpha now. -
New rendering engine which is supposed to be 30% faster.
-
It's faster, for sure.
-
Does it install alongside 9.62 or overwrite it?
-
^^ it is being recommended that you first uninstall 9.62 before installing this 10alpha version. Don't know how true that is
cheers ... -
I don't have Opera 9.62, so yeah.
-
I installed it anyway. Doesn't seem much faster...:x
-
mmm, that does not sound bad.
my 5 weeks old laptop still does not have e-mail client on it... i'm used to MSO / Outlook Express, but first one is expensive and second one... i don't like those too-much-mail-corrupts-it-whole issues. maybe the opera mail will be worth of atry now
-
Oh - whoops! Already had it installed! First alpha browser I've run since FF3 back in Q2 2007; hope it goes better. So far it seems good, but not perfect. GChat in GMail isn't coming up, and there's a funny arrow-line across the page occasionally. Though maybe the funny arrow-line is a feature I'm just not aware of yet.
Caught a screenshot of it! Seeing it mostly on Facebook so far, but saw it at least once on a news site, so it's not just a weird Facebook thing. I don't think.
edit: Just saw it on NBR; definitely not a Facebook thing.
You choose. By default, it installs in a different location, but I'm sure you could choose to overwrite. I wouldn't advise it, however - if it were ready for everything it wouldn't be alpha. -
^^That funny line is the scroll marker. I tried to use it (with Opera 9.62), but I didn't know what to do with it, or what it does.
-
Opera 10.0 looks nice so far, I will give it a try when the Release Candidate / Full Version goes out.
After all, it is nice to have a backup browser.
-
i thought it was showing you the previous position of the screen edge, so that you know how much you can scroll without scrolling too much and skip anything... nice to try but i didn't try longer than some two minutes
and it was gone again
-
Thanks for the news! Perhaps I'll try Opera again when Opera 10 is released.
Take a bow, Opera 10.0 Alpha 1 is here.
