I always run with autohide switched on on the taskbar, which I keep on the left hand side, so I have a nice uncluttered screen. I set the width of the unhidden bar to my desired value before locking it.
But, every so often, in XP, the width that I had set it to be changed after a hibernate or power off, and the bar went very narrow so I had to unlock it again, pull it back to the correct width and then lock it again.

To my annoyance, this is also happening on Win 7 on my new, completely different laptop and also on my desk machine. It seems to be an annoying, if minor, bug which remains through multiple versions of the OS!!!

Anyone else noticed the same issue? It may be that this doesn't happen if you have the task bar in its default position at the bottom of the screen.
