hi and thanks for these great forums

i have bought hp dv6500t and
i have ordered recovery disc for 20$
and i have my 2dvds recovery discs

    the question is
Many users said that Recovery disc are corrupted and don't restore the system due to many errors.

i have tried using the Recovery discs on Virtual pc but it tells me that the computer is not supported ,is there is a way i can trick the recovery discs so i can test them?

I would just stick them in under windows and see if you can browse them and open random files. Perhaps find a program of hp tool and try installing it from the disk.

No, you can't test them under vmware because they look in the hardware to see if the system is allowed to run them. You'd have to change the vmware BIOS, which I don't think is possible.

The only way to test them is to try and run them on the laptop itself, which is of course a scary thing to do. If you plan on doing a clean install, it won't be a huge deal if they don't work. Otherwise, you can also make an image of the hard disk using Acronis TrueImage or ghost or something like that, then test the recovery discs.

Yes, that is the goal of the recovery discs. When you use them, your system will be set up exactly like you just opened the box brand new. All of the original programs and settings will be there, and the recovery partition will be re-created. All of your data on the system will be removed.
