What would you rather see there, just black until the login screen? I'm not sure you can turn it off. Have you tried selecting "noguiboot" from msconfig? I doubt that would work anyway.

I think you may be out of luck, but maybe someone else knows.

Some people are so picky. You know you can just look away for a few seconds if it annoys you.

noguiboot is for the loading screen

I dont think theres a way to get rid of it. If the startup orb sound annoys you just disable it in the sound settings

Maybe it gives him seizures? We should put up warning signs.

You can use TuneUtilities with TuneUp Styler to change the boot screen and welcome screen.
That`d get you rid of the orb.
If not, call me a monkey`s uncle.

Eleron, that has nothing to do with it?
Anyway.. Im using Server 2008, and it doesnt give u extra boottime if its there, the screen are simply just black instead.. So just leave it be or customize it to something cool :p

That can`t be that hard. As soon as you notice the performance hit, you`ll go : "Now why did I ever install Vista?" ...

    Than you might be lucky.
I would try the TuneUp Utilities myself to see if I can replace the orb thing.
One thing to note : it will REPLACE it(if it works), not remove it.

To remove the orb is like to buy a pair of nike running shoes and remove the logo on them, it doesn't change the performace, it is always poor :D

Previous posts shows that is done in different ways, but I don't think v3loc1ty took the time to read the whole thread before giving his opinion.

To improve the booting time, the orb is a malign tumor delaying the booting process

You know you can type in your password when the orb shows up and just press enter. This way the password screen will not show. There, I just saved you a whole 2sec. :)

Unless you blank the last logged on user name, like I do. ;) But perhaps it is possible to buffer up the username, tab, passsword, enter? If I think of it next time I'll try, just to see.
