How do i turn it off, starts to get annoying after a while??
-
I don't know that you can. Come on, it's only there for a second.
-
What would you rather see there, just black until the login screen? I'm not sure you can turn it off. Have you tried selecting "noguiboot" from msconfig? I doubt that would work anyway.
I think you may be out of luck, but maybe someone else knows. -
Some people are so picky. You know you can just look away for a few seconds if it annoys you.
-
I dont think theres a way to get rid of it. If the startup orb sound annoys you just disable it in the sound settings -
Maybe it gives him seizures? We should put up warning signs.
-
the dude wants to get rid of the orb and the best advice is "look away for a second" lol

You can change it, but I doubt you will like it any better. Try this.
-
i think he wants it gone so that he can improve start up time. ;p
-
I don't think it will buy him much boot time though.
-
1-2 seconds at most
-
You can use TuneUtilities with TuneUp Styler to change the boot screen and welcome screen.
That`d get you rid of the orb.
If not, call me a monkey`s uncle. -
But if you remove the orb and logo, yo will forget which OS you have
-
Eleron, that has nothing to do with it?
Anyway.. Im using Server 2008, and it doesnt give u extra boottime if its there, the screen are simply just black instead.. So just leave it be or customize it to something cool -
-
Hahahahaha, hasta la Vista!
-
-
Than you might be lucky.
I would try the TuneUp Utilities myself to see if I can replace the orb thing.
One thing to note : it will REPLACE it(if it works), not remove it. -
To remove the orb is like to buy a pair of nike running shoes and remove the logo on them, it doesn't change the performace, it is always poor
-
i dont think anything can be done (except patching... a no-no)
-
Has anyone at least tried my suggestions?
I don`t have Vista at the moment, cause I`d try it . -
I don't think there is anyway to easily remove that
-
Remove what?
-
the animated start orb
-
Previous posts shows that is done in different ways, but I don't think v3loc1ty took the time to read the whole thread before giving his opinion.
-
No its not possible on any of those ways, Wirelessman..
Theres not point in removing it anyway -
Make the orb die lol. -
what's this useless thread for anyway?
-
To improve the booting time, the orb is a malign tumor delaying the booting process
-
Bloody hell! Now thanks to this thread... even I get annoyed by it... WHY!?!?
-
It's really not a big deal...it shows up for seriously only 1 second and its gone. Turn off the sound and its all good...
-
I can't believe that this conversation went on for four pages...
-
It will go on for more until somebody tries TUNEUP UTILITIES styler to remove it and see

Ok I changed the boot screen and the logon screen but the orb still shows, BUT I did use a logon screen from Tune Up Utilties site, didn't try any others cause I cant find any, well looked for a few mins but doing other things so find some and ill try them. -
You know you can type in your password when the orb shows up and just press enter. This way the password screen will not show. There, I just saved you a whole 2sec.

Unless you blank the last logged on user name, like I do.
But perhaps it is possible to buffer up the username, tab, passsword, enter? If I think of it next time I'll try, just to see.

Just don't turn your computer off ever like me.
