That's not supposed to happen! ("No GUI Boot" issue)

So, this isn't necessarily an important issue, as undoing the changes fixed it right up. However, it's still something to concerns me.

I tried the Vista tweak to boot Windows under the "No GUI Boot" setting. At first, the image that appeared as the boot screen looked similar to the Windows Energy (or is it Vista Energy?) screensaver, only moving very slowly. It was like that for a handful of seconds, much longer than the boot screen usually shows, then black lines started running up and down my screen like a television with poor reception or something of that sort. While it did that, my DVD drive (or something in that general location) made a noise similar to if you put in an overly-scratched disc and it tries to read it anyway. Needless to say, I panicked. And when it hadn't disappeared in 30 more seconds, I pressed the power button to reset/restart the computer.

As to be expected, I ended up having to run through the 'startup repair' thing etc. After that, it again did the lines-and-noise thing, but I let it be and after a long enough time that I had started to think I'd destroyed my computer, it finally booted properly. Changing it back to a GUI boot fixed the problem.

What gives? (Note that I'm using the HP computer described in my signature, in case that has anything to do with the issue.)

Wow. That's awkward. I did find a couple of references to different/unfavorable BIOS/gfx reactions to the alternate boot screen, but I can't imagine why it would be so bad. I mean, we are talking the fastest integrated GPU here...
