Funny you should mention that, I have an update coming very soon with an improved look. Should make it easier to read the entries in the list. Hopefully by this weekend I'll have it updated along with all the new entries that have come up.

Might I suggest adding MSI Afterburner for tweaking and Bullzip PDF Printer for PDF tools? I haven't tried any other free PDF printers, but Bullzip's terrific.

Also, if font creation/editing is worth adding to the list, Fontforge is like the GIMP of font editors - does just as much as the ultra-expensive "professional" products, but not always as quickly or easily. Runs on Windows through MinGW (which is possibly worth mentioning in its own right as a free program that helps Windows run *nix software).

Question: skimming through your chat list I couldn't find anything that seemed to answer this, so I'm asking here:

Is there a single chat client that can integrate Google Talk's email notification, QQ's chat function, and Skype's chat function?

I'm trying to find ways to minimize my battery usage while at work, so I'd like to consolidate my chat clients, but I need email notifications and I need to connect to both QQ and Skype for communication, though I just need basic chat from both of them (I can sign into the dedicated clients if I need anything like video or SkypeOut). I don't think there's anything that fits what I'm looking for, since Skype seems pretty much limited to the official client, but it's worth asking.

    Kylo Browser

    Kylo Browser

Kylo is a Mozilla-based web browser optimized for surfing the web on your HDTV from the comfort of your couch. Check out our screenshot tour to see it in all its 10-foot display glory. Kylo was designed to complement the nifty gyroscopic mouse—produced by Kylo’s parent company—called The Loop. While The Loop is pretty sweet and we certainly wouldn’t mind field testing one, for our testing we just used a regular old wireless keyboard and mouse hooked up to our HTPC. Kylo shines without any fancy peripherals, although it’s certainly a great ambassador for The Loop.

    * Lots of viewing space and no visual clutter
    * Big fonts and big buttons for easy navigation from across the room
    * An easy-to-use onscreen keyboard
    * Zoom-and-pan power that brings every site into view

    More Space and Less Clutter

Kylo's wide-open interface is designed specifically to fit your TV screen. It's not just a blown-up web browser. Kylo lets you enjoy your favorite content fast. Don't waste time hunting through lists of links and unreadable text. See what you want to see!

Why does this sounds like a spam post? Where did you copy that? (since you've been a member since 2007 you can't be a spam bot)

Google search - that post exist only 3 times on the internet....

On that note - anything that send passwords across the web except for log ins and keeps them acccessible online is a security risk.

Security risk are already outside that boundary by the mere fact of "connecting"

Did you type in "lastpass" in google or the statement itself which it sounds like you did?

I did google your post which came up free times - it sounds like spam.

And if you want a safe password storage - then that's a piece of paper - or an electronic device that encrypts them but does not have any ability to connect to the internet.

I'm not going to go back and forth with you on this, if you "think" it's spam then that's fine, when others look at the site, they'll be able to decide on the product itself..just because you put a string of words together don't amount to anything other than mischief

My link goes directly to the site of the service not some "statement." If you look at the reviews then you'll see a great deal of people think differently than you do about it...if you had bothered to read the site you would have seen:

    >Your sensitive data is encrypted on your PC. Only your LastPass password can unlock your data and only YOU have it.<

    and

    >On Windows, LastPass helps find insecure passwords stored on your computer so you can store them securely in LastPass and remove the easy access by malicious software. LastPass uses SSL exclusively for data transfer even though the vast majority of data you're sending is already encrypted with 256-bit AES and unusable to both LastPass and any party listening in to the network traffic -- the amount of data is trivial so the extra encryption doesn't hurt. Our policy of never receiving private data that you haven't already locked down with your LastPass master password (which we never receive and will never ask for) radically reduces attack vectors. We use firewalls and best practices to protect the servers and service, but our best line of defense is simply not having access to data even if someone got in. If LastPass can't access it, hackers can't either.<

I am done with this matter and if you feel that strongly about it, PLEASE report it to the forum moderators so they can make a decision

    good day.......

when I said "I love this program" I meant exactly that, I, me, my, myself; the person who "uses" this program "loves" it

    Hi guys,

I am looking for an alternative to iTunes and see you have some nice options listed here. I had a few questions though regarding the available alternatives. What I really want in a music player is for it to be light (not sluggish and a resource hog) but also I want it to display cover art and be able to find it on-line. I also want a music player that contains lyrics like iTunes has the ability to do. Which of the options include these features and also provides the best overall appearance and performance?

Also, are there any music players that have the ability/mod to add music to an android phone?

    Thanks so much!

I have heard that ZipGenius is also a good and free archive utility, so was wondering why it is not in the list?

While looking for a freeware replacement for convertXtoDVD I came across avi2dvd. Has this been tested?

This is by no means perfect - just out of curiosity I googled Ad blocker IE - well, and found this :)
    Adblock IE

Still, adblock plus is better - but it's a start.
It works with IE8 - and as I eluded to - it's not perfect, I tried on my favourite newspaper - ZEIT ONLINE | Nachrichten, Hintergründe und Debatten - well, Adblock plus filters out more, but it does removed some ads.

I have to say "nice find" too :D - it actually works better :)

To some extents its also which lists you use.
But that one gets the google ads on zeit.de (linked above) to the right of the page.

Knowing these are around makes Internet Explorer 9 so much more attractive :D
I'll see what happens once it's released - and will it come for Vista too is another question.

One that's often overlooked I think...

    Zune Software (4.0 version)

I recently bought a Zune HD and downloaded this software. To my amazement, it is a very good product (including the marketplace, and the pass is a decent buy)...the software is free whether you have the Zune player or not...but some of the features are (descriptions from their website)....

In addition, you can integrate it with windows media player (win 7, haven't tried vista)

    quickplay
Get instant access to the stuff you care about most with shortcuts to favorites, recently downloaded or played music, videos, and more.

    smartdj
From any artist, album, or song, Smart DJ will generate a related playlist from the music on your computer and new music from Zune Marketplace.

    mini mode
Putting the Zune software into mini mode while listening to music allows you to use your other programs while continuing to see what's playing.

    mixview
Launch into Mixview from any artist or album and discover a mosaic of connections to other artists, albums, and fans.

    zune marketplace
Use the Zune software to access Zune Marketplace from your computer. Download or stream new music, rent or buy the latest movies, buy TV shows, and watch free trailers and previews—plus thousands of video and audio podcasts. You can also download free games including classic and other popular titles. Zune Marketplace is the entertainment superstore that never closes. Browse music, movies, videos, and podcasts whenever you like, with brand-new releases every week.

    Soluto

    Their website:

Not sure if it's built in - but copy and paste works, done it before.

I stumbled on this thread when searching around for software and wow...never knew how many programs were available for free. I've often wondered what motivates people to make things just to give them away, I could never figure it out, but I'm sure glad they do. My top 5 free pieces of software are:

    VLC Media Player
    MalwareBytes anti malware
    Avira Antivirus
    Realtek HD Audio Drivers
    OpenOffice

I know a couple of these are already listed but hey, no harm in mentioning them again!

I don't Know if it has been mentioned but with this program Tweaks.com Logon Changer you can change on the fly the log on screen of win7.It's very very simple and you can place any logon image that you like.At any point you can also go back to the original log on screen.
