    http://www.tweakguides.com/VA_1.html

Came across this a couple of days back, and I've gotta say, it seems to be the most objective Vista article I've read (IMO).

I think it's a worthwhile read for anyone who hates vista, but more for anyone who wants to understand vista (and how to use it) a little better.

Any thoughts from anyone who's read it?

I read it quite a while ago, thought it was pretty good. I didn't agree with him about the UAC though, because although he makes good points about why to keep it on, even if you are an experienced PC user, it's just SO annoying to keep it on. I hate it when I have to use someone's computer that still has that.

That's one thing I'm definitely looking forward to in Win7 though, different settings of UAC so it doesn't ask you to confirm every single thing that happens on your computer.

I guess the reason I changed my opinion of UAC so much is that I don't do much in windows that requires it (overclocking, installing and moving files in system/program folders) - I do everything except gaming in linux, and if I need to move a lot of stuff around I just temporarily disable it.

    Ah, my bad =$

In my defense, I'd wasn't on the forum back then =D

I gotta say, the piracy article is a good read too, and more than a little embarrassing.

True, but to be fair, I hated Vista when it came out. I hated how bloated, fail-ridden, broken and generally poorly coded this new microsoft offering was.

Then I actually tried it... *blush* Reading that article shamed me a fair bit...

I got it after SP1, but even so I've never had any problems with it.

I've gotta say - off topic - the tweak guides themselves are fantastic (I owe the fallout 3 one about 25% of my FPS lol).

I'd donate but as a first-year apprentice living away from home, that might have to wait...

The tweak about the folder display is good, but you shouldn't have to go into the registry to fix it.
