That's probably your problem right there. You're running a completely optimized XP image while you (likely) just loaded a bloated Vista on your system. Vista w/ clean install has been great for me. Boots in about 20-25 secs for me and sleeps/hibernates itself very quickly as well.

Lol I think this post was sarcastic...

It was hard to find settings, as most of them have been shuffled around, and when I changed them, UAC windows came up.
-
Some bits of the interface are slightly different (configuring network settings comes to mind) but it's just a matter of getting used to. Also, UAC takes about 2 secs to turn off.

Cattle I say cattle...
I hated vista because I didnt like beta 1, beta 2, and RC1. Then I tried vista after release and still didnt like it. But now after SP1 and a few patches Im pretty happy with it. I vowed not to buy into vista til SP1 due to my beta and post release experiences, so when I heard SP1 was around the corner I bought a new laptop and havent looked back since.
As a tweaked fresh format XP install is sweet so can a vista install. -
Gotta hate Vista, and that Majo-whatever; but I love Windows Longhorn!
-
So based on what I read, Mojave official name for what we've come to know as Windows 7? (Pardon me if I'm late)
-
No, Mojave is simply Vista. There is no actual Mojave.
-
Yeah, I misread context of the quote. Sorry about that.
-
To each their own.
Each experience is different for everyone. When I said vista ran like a dog on my E1705, it's because everything really ran slower, loaded slower, the whole UI felt slower. When I put in XP, it really flew.
Until I found an alternative, I was running vista far more than xp however. Now I don't run either.
Again, to each his own.

This post sums up my thoughts on this marketing ploy: http://wilshipley.com/blog/2008/07/mojave-experiment-bad-science-bad.html

While I am glad that Microsoft is actually DOING something about people's negative perceptions, I am really sort of feeling *UGH* that we have to experience the whole backlash of editorials and personal experiences all over the internet. With more people using Vista, it is more of a 50/50 fight, but WHO CARES?
EVERYONE JUST STOP. If you don't want to use Vista don't use Vista. Please make it based on your own experiences and not hearsay. If you don't want to use XP, don't use XP. NO MORE COMPLAINING! OH GOD! NO MORE! *sobs* -

I still find it incredibly humorous, the reluctance to accept change, especially in this young a crowd. Some of you will be old before I.

I would take what he has to say with a grain of salt, considering he praised (and bought) the featureless Macbook Air.

Wait, are you suggesting that a guy who prefaces his remarks with the statement, " you know I pretty much hate Microsoft, because of their incredibly shady business practices (moreso in the early 1990s) and their shoddy products, most especially their operating systems, whose crappy user experience and programmer interfaces hold back the advance of technology," might not be the most open-minded individual around when it comes to commenting on various things Microsoft? The devil you say!
-
Well I honestly don't read all of that guy's stuff. I just happen to agree with his four main points against this experiment. I think the placebo effect, a controlled environment (I think his point on people during the testing not using it for any length of time goes under here), and having someone there helping you all contribute to the skewed results. Regardless of how someone feels about Vista or Microsoft, these points aren't really undermined. If you think the points he brings up on the placebo effect, controlled environment or the tutor are wrong and do not skew the test results, then please explain your reasoning. In my opinion, they invalidate the experiment.
-
I was kind of agreeing with you until that last sentence. I don't believe the points completely invalidate the experiment, in this case. I could even argue that they're more anecdotal than actual counter-arguments. I'm not totally disagreeing with the points, but I don't totally agree with them either.Last edited by a moderator: May 8, 2015

Well, as far as his points...of course it's not scientific. Of course it's contrived. It's a marketing initiative, not a scientific study. I don't suppose that particular blogger spends much time analyzing the accuracy of the "I'm a Mac, I'm a PC" marketing campaigns.
Actually, I found it sort of funny that an Apply Fanboy would suggest that the slogan "Our Customers Are Stupid and Have No Idea What They Really Want" would be applicable to Microsoft customers. Pot. Kettle. Black. And all that. -
