I am losing my internet connection every few days. When I reboot my computer, the connection comes back online. I did not have this problem the first two years I owned my computer.
I have tried everything to fix the problem.
I would like to use a third party internet connection manager.
Which is the best one? How do I disable the Windows 7 connection manger?

How are you connected to your local ISP? And what firewall and A/V are you using? What O/S are you using? And when was the last time your rebooted your computer to factory setting or did a complete reinstall of your O/S. -
Router. Cox internet.
When I had a disconnect, I hooked up my computer with a hard wire to the modem, and still could not get the connection. So I am guessing it is not a router problem. I have another computer hard wired to the router without any problem. Another computer is connected wireless and not having any issues.
Comodo and Avast
Never. Trying to avoid that. -

What version of O/S are you running? I had in past had problems with Comodo and got rid of it and keeped the windows firewall. But before going back to windows firewall I had Zonealarm pro but with all their updates and constant tweaking I got rid of it in favor of windows firewall and haven't had problems since then. Is the computer laptop or desktop? If desktop how about if you can get a hold of a wireless card adapter for your laptop and try that and see if you get a connections.
That only of last resort and when all else fails that would the last thing to do. I would say if all your other connections wired and wireless works it would be suffice to say the problem is your firewall is killing your connections for whatever reasons is hard to know. Unless those other computers have Comodo loaded on them as well do they??? -
You may need to contact Cox. Being a former cable guy, you may want to have them check the signal level at the tap, (Tap=Box outside that connects to the distribution line. Its where the drop to your house is connected. Can be underground or near the power line.)
It could be a maintence issue either at the tap or at the node. Do you know if your losing packets? You may need to test for packet loss. -
That was my first thought, too, and then he noted all of his other computers connected to the router are not suffering the same issue.
Could be a bad network cable, consider switching it,or it could be a failing network interface card. Replacing that would cost about $10
