Hey guys im new to the forums as I just got my first laptop of my life(Asus G1S). Been a desktop user for over 10 years before that. Needless to say im giggling happy since yesterday.

Anyway back to business, it came with a the most bloated Vista Ultimate as you can imagine and it seems like my AGP 8x based desktop(athlon2500, 512ram, 6600GT) runs XP faster than G1S runs Vista. Needless to say I need to do something. Not really loooking to dualboot, and it seems like theres TOO much hassle trying to get XP work with G1S.

aye but even a "clean" vista is not that junk-free... it would include all that stuff that I copy-pasted on top.

I would replace Disk Cleanup, display drivers, Disk Defragger, System Restore, and enable DEP.

Everything else looks mostly like stuff for "beginners" (ie, Diagnositic Services> computer troubleshooting for you), but the ones above are useful for everyone.

Just be warned that TinyVista is warez since it has the activation crack integrated into it.

Yeah... I'd be suprised if this doesn't get closed. TinyVista sounds illegal to me, whether or not you have a license. Gotta love the DMCA.

The only issue I see (beyond stripping practically everything useful) is that future Windows Updates or software may assume these things are there, even if they are disabled. Their absence may cause updates or installations to fail.

hmmm, I get confused about pirating stuff sometimes. Is it still pirating if he owns the original?

How is this against the forum rules?

Anyways, I'm curious how your setup works out. There are a few things I could not go without in your setup, but I admire the work and research you have put into your setup. That is what I get out of this thread.

Discussion of illegal activities such as software and music piracy and other intellectual property violations are not allowed. There is a zero tolerance policy for illegal activity being discussed.
since it is stated above i have no problem pointing it out...
i believe that falls under the VAUGE rule quoted above...

but personally i find value in the post myself!!

I've heard decent things about it from people who have used it in a BootCamp partition on mac laptops (so as to use as little of the HD space as possible). But as I'm sure has been obvious enough as is, it does have an integrated BIOS emulation to avoid activation issues.

As far as vLite goes, I'm only used to nLite for XP, but I'm sure that you could achieve a balanced set of what features you need, and what features you don't -- you'll just need to invest a bit of time to dig around and find all the options.

Apparently so. I had a thread closed down once because I mentioned making a backup copy of a CD game I own.

It's all iffy territory ;P . None of us can stop anyone from doing anything, really, but at least a little bit of worrying from a moderation point of view is understandable, I guess.

    Thread closed.

Just because you have a license to a OEM version of the software doesnt give you the right to pirate/download a hacked ISO with an activation crack.

Also please report iffy thread and the let the mods do their jobs.
