For those who want to play with Win 7 pre-beta but dont want to mess with their machines, try running Sun Microsystem's (yes Sun, Microsoft Virtual PC wont run Win 7) VirtualBox software. Its a free downlod, very light weight and easy to use. You will need atleast 1.5GB Free Ram dedicated to this Virtual PC and around 10GB Disk space to run Win 7 smoothly.
If your Notebook or Desktop provides Hardware virtualization, you would even be able to use fancy devices like TV-Tuner , sound card etc on your Virtual image of Win 7.
Please let me know how it goes![]()

Actually I've already tried running Win 7 on Microsoft Virtual PC and it does run however I couldn't figure out how to install a decent video card driver in the Virtual PC environment so I can't turn on Aero but it def does work.

Good to know, it gave me some wierd error about some file not found. I didnt bother much at that time. Were you able to install, say, your sound card or wi-fi device to use them on the virtual environment? Do you have the "Hardware Virtualization" checkbox enabled?
thanks -
Where are you all getting win 7 from?

I don't think anybody's going to answer that question, haha.

According to the wikipedia article on Win7, in the Builds subsection, build 6801 was provided to the attendees at Microsoft's last Professional Developers Conference, and has since found its way (somehow
) into the torrents community - who woulda thunk it?
Tip: Windows 7 on Virtual machine
