Did you have to remove preloaded versions of Norton's Anti-virus or equivalent software before going to the anti-virus you wanted? Or did you leave it in? My 700m Inspiron will have a free-trial Norton's stuff on it for 90days...Do I have to remove it in order to use my selection(s)? If I do not remove the trial stuff and not activate it, will it cause a conflict? I read somewhere that you cannot remove Symantec stuff entirely unless you are into the language level and can go into the "deep" directories of your system...
And what if I want to keep two types of anti-virus : Panda and AVG? Will they conflict? Sorry for the questions. There seeem to be no conflicts in my pwrbook/mac with Sophos and Symantec stuff - not running at the same time, of course but have been activated or registered or even running in the backgrd. Ignore this post should it be too inane or stupid. Forgive me. My only excuse is I am (and probably shall be) a mac-oriented user.
Any advise from anyone would be also welcome.
Sincerely,
macmac

If the application is installed and running in the background, I'd suggest you remove it before installing any other similar apps. this may not cause a problem, but it may slow down the system since you have 2 AV programs scanning files.

To Bootleg2go,
Ouch man! I should have waited!! Or you should have posted sooner!! Anyway, I cannot lose due to peace of mind! I will use the AVs individually. And I will remove any trace of Norton's first. My main thing against Norton AV is that on pc/windows, my associates curse it due to slowing down their desktops...I ventured it would slow down a laptop more. But again, what do I know.
This window world is getting expensive. I hope I can survive. Like before, thanks for the heads up!

The thinkpads come with the norton AV program in an uninstalled state, it is up to the user to install it. I would not have more than one AV or firewall running at one time, they can fight against each other and in some cases cause blue screen crash. If you try something new, uninstall the current program 1st.
If your still interested in Panda's AV and have not purchased it yet.
Here is a link I just found today that makes it about 1/2 price.

They have it for $22 or $29 for the version that includes spyware and internet security, a great deal I think.

PS, you can download the trail version for a 30 day tryout before you buy just to see how it works for you before you spend money on it.

Dear Venombite,
It really sucks when I do not know when the software is actually working. Whether it is on or you can consider monitoring as a "on" mode...I hate to think that I am spending bucks on the fastest processor and slowing it down with unnecessary software.
Just work with one antivirus - Panda first since I already put my money down then if something goes wrong, switch to Zuggy's pick....Endless worries?!! Believe me, with a Mac, you do NOT think of these things.
Please keep the posts coming and thanks Venombite.

I know, I bought mine at the higher price as well. It was just this afternoon that a co-worker pointed this site out ot me and the price they were selling panda for.
