Running a Lenovo T420, anyone running Win 10 Technical Preview as a daily operating system?

Been into building PC's for 15 years, watercooling/overclocking for a good 11-12 years, and gaming all along. Now I don't really game much, just kind of sit around on my T420 (love the notebook life!)

Just don't know if running win10 is feasible at this point... I need to fresh install windows, I can either re-do my win7 ultimate dual booting ubuntu linux, or try going with win10. Just not sure how well my T420 drivers would take it....

I had it... for few hours, after which I've decided to come back to Windows 8. IMO I would wait till Consumer Preview came out to use it as a daily OS. Otherwise, if you have itchy hands, try washing them. Nah, just kidding. Make a second partition or Hyper-V that stuff! No point in using alpha for daily tasks.

Check the fine print - MS has all sorts of data logging/collection.

I am not suggesting they're doing anything nefarious, but it's concerning enough that I would reconsider using it as my main OS. I'll see if I can find the link I am thinking of and add it in an edit.

Edit: not what I was looking for, but it provides a short and pretty balanced summary of the issue/concerns: Microsoft clears the air on Windows 10 “keylogger” | Microsoft | Geek.com

Yeah I've seen that posted other places, not too woried about data collection, just trying to have a decently reliable OS

I think I'll just stick with win 7, and maybe try 10 out as a virtual machine (that is, if it can even function as that at this point, not sure, I haven't done much research)

edit: I'm the kind of guy that always partitions/runs a second hard drive just for my OS/current installed apps. Not that I "have" to, but I re-install windows every 2-6 months, and have done so since 2000ish lol.

I have Windows 10 running in a VirtualBox VM on a Windows 7 host. Most things work, though I couldn't get the VirtualBox graphics driver to function. That makes the interface a bit slow and I had to do some tweaking to get a resolutoin of 1920x1080.

No, wait for a beta release. Win 10 will be a lot like Win 8, a phone program with modules to fit everything else, If M$ has its way, your car will programmed with Windows and then need security updates so a virus or other malware wont hi jack your car or refuse to start your car until you have paid for an update.

    Cheers
