I'm trying to reformat my E1505, but when it asked me what version to repair I hit my version of MCE instead of ESC. Now it's installing and will take about 35 more minutes. Can I skip this step - aka, cut the power to my laptop and try again without completing this first reinstall?

Nevermiiiiiiiiiiiind! It's all installed and I'm doing it again. But I suppose a response would still be good for anyone else that makes the mistake.

Generally, it is not recommended that you stop the reformat process. The reason is that once you start formatting the HDD, you are more likely to run into errors if you stop it. Even if you have to reformat again, it is safer to let it do its thing and then reformat.

I'm still not sure what you did though.

What you did would have been ok to stop. By selecting 'repair', all that happens is the system files get re-installed to the disc, no actual formatting occurs. I should mention that it would be ok to stop if you were planning to immediately format... if you intended to reboot and use the computer, it could be unstable at that point (or it might be fine, buuuut, why take your chances, right?)
