Hey there, I'm just looking for a reliable remote PC software or service. If you have had any good experiences with one please let me know and I will try it out.
Just thought I'd check if there's an NBR preferred service before wandering around the internet hit & missing random services.![]()
Thanks for any help & suggestions!!![]()

Logmein is a great choice and its free

LogMeIn Free's a good service, esp. if you will be accessing the desktop machine from a system that's restricted as far as installing programs, etc.
If not, consider Microsoft's Live Mesh, (also free) besides remote access, it also allows you to synchronize files between the two machines, as well as a "web desktop" if you'd like. -
I like Windows's built-in RDP service.
Here is a good comparison chart of remote desktop software:

I've been using it for years, and still do. -

I'll try them out and see what works best for me. -

i use remotedesktop for accessing stuff like servers.
i use www.teamviewer.com for accessing others machines (friends or so, that have a problem). works in and out of every network, as long as both can access teamviewer.com, they can connect. very useful for the "grandma" support -
+1 for Windows built-in RDC utility
+2 for LogMeIn
I recently was used in a session w/ team viewer the other day...it seems very secure and it actually allows you to see what the other party is doing. so +1 for that too.
BTW, nice link stewie! +Rep. -
Microsoft's Remote Desktop is good; in conjunction with a dynamic DNS service, such as from dyndns.com, I use it all the time to get onto the headless desktop I use as an ersatz home server.

RDP works great for me, I like to set it up so you can share a desktop(might need terminal services installed) but it works great.

I use remote desktop from my remote locations to my office, where we have a fixed IP. The only negative I've seen WRT remote desktop is that file access from one machine to the other is very slow (running XP on both ends). Also as I understand the receiving machine cannot be running XP home.
Part of the battel for most people will be finding a service that keeps track of their home ip since it probably changes frequently. -

Convenient thread is convenient!
I'm currently beating my face against my laptop trying to get remote desktop to work between my Vista Ultimate laptop and an XP Pro desktop at home.
I have a VNC connection up and running fine, I can access the remote computer fine, I just can't for the life of me get remote desktop to find the XP Pro machine.
Is there something glaringly obvious I'm probably missing? -
RDP, and if you need to transfer files just map the drives.

Finally managed to get a remote desktop connection up and running, only problem now is the fact I have two mouse cursors. :x

I think Remote Desktop is the easiest way to go. I've used LogMeIn though with computers that don't have the RemoteDesktop built in.
