I was a long time FF user with top security addons until I finally thought Chrome had a proper pop blocker.

This AdBlock(Version: 2.2.23) extension is the one that I've been using but whenever downloading files from Fileserve or Megaupload, popups that used to be blocked by addons in FF can't be resolved by AdBlock in Chrome. So to all the Chrome users out there, which extension or combination of extensions do you use or is the most effective?

Thank you very much in advance and happy 2011!!

In addition to the Adblock some info about a NoScript addon would be very helpful.

I checked for a NoScript add-on back when I first installed Chrome and couldn't find one. However, there is an option in the Content Options to disable Javascript. If you ever need to enable it, there's a little scroll-like icon in the address bar that will allow you to enable Javascript on the current site as well as a whitelist.

adblock does not directly have to do with blocking popups. but yeah, chrome blocks a lot of popups on it's own. what it can't block is f.e. popups triggered from flash. that should get fixed one day, but right now still isn't.

I've read that Adblock Plus for Chrome just literally blocks the ad, it doesn't stop it from loading in the page.

A good Chromium popup blocker is Better Privacy popup blocker.

In its options are some javacript related settings, one specifically to block java popup windows. There's also the NotScripts extension for Chrome which is the closest thing you'll get to the FF version.

You rock my friend...Better Pop Up Blocker works really well and got rid of those headaches for me. Kudos.

Thank you to everyone else that took the time to reply.
