Hello everybody! I've been jumping around with my new laptop's os and was wondering if anyone could tell me what the best verison of windows would be for my some-what awesome laptop (my opinion :p).

Here are the specs for my Toshiba Satillite P305D-S8900:
    Processor: AMD Turion 64 X2 2.0ghz
    RAM: 4 GB
    HDD: 320 GB 5,400rpm

Any suggestions would be great.... XP or Vista :D

If Toshiba still offers XP drivers for this model, then you can consider XP along with Vista. However, if you choose the latter OS, then Home Premium or Business should be sufficient for the needs of the typical user.

I personaly recommend getting Vista Home Premium if you're planning to use your notebook for gaming, entertainment, etc. (which it looks like your notebook is built for). I've heard though that Vista Business has better backup for your files so you might want to take that into consideration. You're gonna be spending an extra ~$40 for Business though.

You can check the Windows Vista Edition Comparison Chart to see which one really fits your needs.

By the way, why not wait for Windows 7?

I'm running Vista 64 on my recently purchased Toshiba Satellite and it runs fantastic. As was eluded to by Shyster use the OS that came with your laptop, that's the best option.

edit: Btw my laptop is similar to yours with the only exception the CPU (P7350) and GPU (ATI 3650). Vista 64 Home Premium runs great.
