I'm deciding between windows 7 professional and windows 10 for this laptop

Those seem to be the only two options. Oddly, they don't even mention 8.1
I'm afraid of not being able to download my school's software (free downloads of maple mathematica + other software if you are a student) if I get windows 10. Are my fears unfounded?
Let's say I do get windows 7 professional and I get the touchscreen version of the laptop. In windows 7 professional, what aspects of touchscreen work? Like can I use touchscreen while browsing chrome on windows 7? Use touchscreen in powerpoint/word/onenote? Use touchscreen on infranview and microsoft photo viewer?

Windows 7 will see your touchscreen and load all the drivers for you. It will work with all your software that you install on it. I have 9 touchscreen laptops and have never had a problem. I WILL NOT install windows 10 on none of my laptops. Read the above threads to see why.ajkula66, Primes and alexhawker like this.
