Well, it's September, and I'm getting my new laptop for Christmas, but I will be getting Adobe CS4 before that. How do I transfer the applications to my new computer? Can I just drag them onto my external HD and import them to my new hard drive on my laptop? Thanks!

I don't know, but I'll check. In the mean time, what computer are you getting; and how will you be applying the CS4? :)

    Please Stand by....

Reinstall everything from the original discs. And with your original license keys.

Just reinstall CS4 on your new computer using your key. Transferring their install folders will not work.

Oh, ok. I'm getting the HP G70t notebook, and that was my second question, how many computers can you install the disks on?

Typically it's one computer and any one time.

Just try it though, you may find that you have three installs allowed.

I believe you have to deactive the key from the previous install and then reinstall it to the new gear. Might as well save the old directory and see if it functions on the new one.

Ok, so I won't have to buy it again?

Not unless you want to pay twice. Software developers account for changing computer when you make the purchase, but different companies have different methods. You typically get a code to transfer the software. You can contact the manufacture for specifics.

Note: you may be charged extra or have to buy a "delux" version for this convenience

Which version of CS4 are you getting. Some programs of the Master Collection require specific video and audio hardware. Do your homework so you dont get snagged.

Yes you will have to deactivate your license for the transfer. Its actually pretty easy. CS4 does call home to adobe to verify your license. Will NOT allow 2 machines to use one license.

    Best Wishes

I'm getting Design Premium, not the Master.

There should be no problems to transfer the program to another computer.
I transferred my copy of Adobe After Effects CS4 from my old laptop to my new one. All I did was to install the program with the DVD and type in the key. Easiest thing in the world.
