I will be doing a clean install, so I need to transfer my e-mails and address book.

I am upgrading from Vista so I was using Windows Mail.

I found the folder where the e-mails are stored, but they are not any .dbx files like they were in Outlook. There is one file called "WindowsLiveMail". Does it contail all my folders from Windows Mail (inbox, saved, etc.).

    What about my address book?

Is "Windows Easy Transfer" in Vista reliable? I am not sure I trust it. I would be more comfortable doing it manually.

I've read that Vista stores the email differently from XP, i.e. no .dbx files.

Easy transfer actually works well for Vista to Win7. Keep in mind Windows 7 now uses Windows Live Mail. And yes it will transfer those emails.

If you want to manually do this I suggest the instructions here for Windows Mail.

And make sure you copy your contacts folder.
