For some reason when I click a hyperlink directing to a .png image my browser (IE8) closes the tab it opens for it and instead brings up the open/save/cancel File Download prompt. It only happens when I click a link directing to a .png image, if I put the URL into the browser directly it opens in the browser normally and every other type of image displays in the browser just fine. Any ideas why .png links would have a different behavior?

I'm using Windows 7 x64 and IE8. Currently my default image viewing program is IrfanView 4.27. I also have Photoshop CS5 installed but it's associated only with Adobe specific filetypes.
