So I'm trying to install an HP printer without the disc on an non HP, is there any way to get it to install as a generic type printer so it doesn't keep asking me for the HP disc?
It's an HP PhotoSmart C1300 series printer.
edit: trying the HP website for drivers, no Vista, but XP drivers should work, I guess...
edit1: hp drivers want a disc for verification... even after installing random bloatware programs on my system![]()
Is there a way to "add printer" as generic?

I was able to order a disk for an HP printer off the HP website (free). That didn't work so I downloaded the software off the website which did work. Perhaps you can download the XP software with drivers that work.
Oops, see you tried. -
Did you try from this page?

Third one down. Second one down to order the disk -
... it did not work though -
Thanks
Note: The C3100 All-in-One Printer series will work on the old C1300 printer for windows Vista
