    Hey guys,

Long story short, I got the "infinite repair start up" sequence on my laptop. I googled and tried all the fixes, but none seemed to work for me. So, I got a fresh download of Win 7 (it's the free trial version) and am trying to install it.

It seems to go fine, but then it says it cannot find the drivers for my dvd drive. I have the Dell drivers disk (not sure if the driver is even on there... never used it before) but it doesn't seem to find anything on it.

I found out that my DVD drive is a:

    TSSTcorp DVD+-RW TS-U633F

I found the driver on Dell's website, but I am not sure if it's the correct one. They had two different files listed for this drive.

Could someone point me to the right file I'd need AND the steps I need to do to get the computer to find/recognize the disc so I can get Win 7 installed on my laptop? I'd appreciate it!

*I think I bricked my USB flash thumb drive, so I only have DVD+R discs now.

    Thanks!

    :edit:

The laptop is a Dell XPS L401X by the way.

No, I don't. My laptop came preloaded with Win7. I talked to the people at Dell and they said my key will not work for a new copy of Win 7 so I have to buy another copy.

I just want to get this version installed so I can get my laptop working. I need it for school. I'll just buy a key code to activate it later, but it gives me 30 days.

    :Edit:

I may have gotten the link that you posted before. It's a copy of Win 7 and I think I got it from that Digital River site. The problem is it's saying I am missing the drivers for my CD/DVD drive and will not continue. I need to find a way to get the drivers onto my laptop.

Your key will work, activating it might require a call to microsoft, but it will work. I'm not sure what the DVD driver problem is though.

If you don't have a Windows installation dvd, you can ask Dell to send you one, which you have to pay a little sum for it, and can use it with your existing key. Or you can get it from the recovery management, I guess there is such in Dell machines as there is in many other brands.

your windows key should be on a sticker on base of laptop or under battery.

not sure if it will work as i think you need the paid version but you could try magic jelly to recover all your keys KeyFinder | Magical Jelly Bean
