    Trying to install xp - help

    I need a bit of help here, i am trying to install windows xp pro on to my sony vaio vgnfz11m notebook, i start off by booting from the cd and it goes through to saying : windows could not detect any hard disc drives, setup could not be completed.

    Im at my wits end i have no idea what to do, any help will be greatly appreciated.

    You need to go into the BIOS and see if you can either disable SATA or ACHI for the notebook. Do that, install XP.

    Or (this is a better way) obtain a copy of nLite and slipstream the SATA drivers for the HDD into a personally made copy of an XP disc.

    Thanks for the info mate but i cant seem to find anything like that in the bios. oh well, vista it is :(
