I got this old laptop from this friend of mine for 50 bucks.
Its pretty old, VIA 1.2 Ghz, 256 MB RAM, 40 GB HDD and th basic others and is called a Patriot 3070.

The guy who used this laptop before tried one of those disk kill programs to completely destroy the data. While doing that, the system was turned off in the middle and now I cant do anything to the hard drive. Cant format, re-partition, or do anything to do the MBR.
I am using Ultimate BootCD ( UBCD ).

Any suggestion(s) would be very much appreciated.

    Thanks

Have you tried sticking in the Windows 98 boot disk/CD, or if you have it, the recovery disk for the system? What happens when you boot off of those?

Is the Ultimate BootCD the one not letting you format, partition, or fix the MBR, or is it the system?
