Whenever I click on the .exe to install TU2009 I get this:

"Your Windows version is not supported by TuneUp Utilities 2009. Installation is therefore not possible."

I'm having a hard time believing this program will not work with W7. Any ideas?

    Running W7 Pro x64...

Try right clicking it, choose "properties", then go to the comparability tab and change it to Vista or XP.

Why would anyone try to force an older or down level 'tuning utility' to perform its destructive magic on Windows 7?

I'm earger awaiting howls of complaint from people who decide to throw ccleaner or glary or tuneup or whatever at their shiny new win7 installations.

I managed to install TU with compatibility set to Vista SP2. Before that had the same error as above.

    No complaints yet.

"managed to install" is not the same thing as "will work correctly with my new OS".

CCleaner working fine with my Windows 7, actually been using CCleaner on Windows 7 since the Beta. CCleaner has even gotten updated in past versions for better 7 support.

And I've tried Tune Up before, nothing "destructive" about it. If it were free I would use it.

I can't use my TU2009 on my Windows 7 even I set it to compatibility mode for Vista(SP1/SP2). It does install but in the end, error messages and some fatal errors.
CCleaner is very user friendly and it is very updated. So, it can work on every Windows generally without any problem.

Nobody here is talking about working correctly. Obviously if the program is not intended to work with this OS, there is a possibillity of "not working corectly". Right?

But forcing it to install and actually working with it, I accepted the fact that it could go something wrong. That's why I said "no complaints yet".

Wondering the same thing.. I don't know why people even buy this stuff to begin with. It's just a collection of various registry settings and other tweaks you can on your own.

Who knows.. people still buy SD televisions too..

It's more for people who have more valuable things to do with their time than to sit and read up on the inner workings of Windows.

Look up "opportunity cost" or take an "Economics 101" class. :D

Seems to me learning how to do it one time initially would be maximizing efficiency and minimizing cost in the long-run, as opposed to repeatedly buying a newer version of the same software package every time it becomes outdated.

Which I believe is the situation you now find yourself in.. :D

But then again I only minored in econ, and it's been about 10 years since I graduated. Maybe things have changed..

I don't personally use TuneUp Utilities, but I have heard that the defragmenter is very good for the price.

I can use tune-up utilities 2009 with windows 7.. almost all the tools work except for the registry cleaner... remember to run it in compatibility mode and on the shortcut on your desktop , right click on properties and click on go to file location. There set the app file to run in compatibility mode. Worked for me... only the damm registry cleaner doesn't work... Is there any tune up utilities as good as this one and works with windows 7?

I installed TU2k9 a couple of nights ago and as I played around I BSOD'd and then finally it wouldn't boot. I tried startup repair and no joy, so I had to do a fresh install. The OS works fine w/o it so I'm gonna skip all the "fixer" programs except for CC.
