Yesterday I was tweaking my new Vista installed laptop and I took off UAC so I could stop getting those damn pop up messages asking me "Do you really want to do that?". And I noticed an increased startup time for my Kaspersky IS 7. Is this normal or is turning off UAC causing Kaspersky to have to search for it's files? I also got some sort of error message from Kaspersky, although I don't remember what it said, it only came up after turning off UAC and went away when I turned it back on.

Would it work better to uninstall Kaspersky, turn off UAC, and than re-install?

You could try that, I used Kaspersky for a while and wasnt really a fan. Are you using the trial version, if so give Avast a go - very good.

I got the whole package ISS 7. So far it's better than what I was using (Zone Alarm ISS) and seems to work well with my system.

Today I took off the UAC crap and Kaspersky and everything else started working fine. Just to make sure I ran the Eicar, ShieldsUp!, and LeakTest tests to make sure. That damn UAC screen was getting really annoying LOL
