    Hey all,

Just curious, has anyone ever used Tweak UI for XP?

I have XP on my netbook, and wanted to know what others thought of Tweak UI, before I ventured into it!!. ;)

I've used it a lot in the past but I can't even remember what exactly, been so long since I was on XP. XD

Pretty sure the main the I used it for was changing shortcut behavior, like when you create a shortcut it doesn't have "Shortcut to - whatever" on it.

Most of the XP Powertoys are awesome, just install it and play around with them.

Try making a backup via System Restore first, then play or whatever

There's no need to back up anything prior to installing the powertools. I've used them for years - very handy for tweaking hard to find settings.

Thanks, guys...I got a tad feisty with the recycle bin always being on my desktop, on my Mini 9.. and not being able to hide it!!!   ;)

So, I used Tweak UI and was able to remove it from the desktop immediately! I haven't used the other programs such as: Color Control Panel Apple; SyncToy; RAW Image Thumbnailer and Viewer; ClearType Tuner; HTML Slide Show Wizard; Open Command Window Here; Alt-Tab Replacement; Power Calculator; Image Resizer; CD Slide Show Generator; Virtual Desktop Manager; Taskbar Magnifier; and Webcam Timershot!!!

Do you find these to be worthwhile for XP?

Sorry for the long list...I'm practicing on improving my Qwerty typing on my netbook!!!! :p    :D

Image Resizer and Tweak ui are both great, both work very well and I wish there were Vista/W7 versions.

Tweak UI, Open CMD Here & Image Resizer are usually the first things I install on a clean install of XP. The html slide show generator is pretty cool as well, in the rare case I need it.

So Open CMD is a good one, also? :D
I haven't gotten that far yet. My keystrokes and working around on my netbook are not at 100% yet.. :D

Only if you ever need a command prompt. It saves the time of navigating to the folder within the prompt. If you never use the MSDOS window then it's pointless.

Excellent tool. Use it on all my XP systems. The 'disable optimize while idle' feature is handy for those who use 3rd party defragmenters.

Somehow I missed Open CMD here! Been wishing Windows had that function for a long time! Thanks!

I use TweakUI myself a bit; primarily for stuff like getting rid of the arrow on shortcuts. Nice tool to get things a bit more in your style.

I also use Tweak UI and it's a very handy utility. Can also dl the other ones since they're all free... advance calculator, image resizer, raw viewer, etc

To me, TweakUI is a must after every Windows XP installation. I use it to disable AutoPlay, change Thumbnails' size & quality, and remove unused Document Templates.

    It is pretty cool! :D

It is very handy...works well when you working on a new Notebook/Netbook, also!

That is one of the things I'm learning to like about it ;)

Yep! I installed Image Resizer also...and that's pretty cool! :D

As, is the Alt-Tab Replacement feature! ;)

Has anyone played with the Power Calculator feature?

Thread is a little old, but I found this when doing a search. I've just got my netbook so I can't say on it (though it shouldn't make any difference), but I've used Tweak UI, Taskswitch, CmdHere, RAWViewer, and Procmon on my desktop since they came out and I wouldn't run without them. It isn't that they are essential, but they just make some things just so much easier that I wouldn't want to be without them. I plan on installing them on my netbook as well.
