That is true - but his is a simply written article by Microsoft - it should quieten the sceptics.

Hasn't changed. Tweaking can be good and bad to a system, it's all about knowing which programs to tweak, and which to not.

vLite + disabling of various services that is unneeded (not readyboost, nor superfetch, those are good things) does makes it faster.

No need for all these. My laptop runs fast without any tweaking.
I would blame the third party software developers who force their software to run automatically at system start up. In most cases the auto start up is not needed.

I agree, after all do you NEED the GoogleUpdate Service, Google Software Updater, AdobeUpdaterService, iPod Servive (installed by iTunes even if you don't own an iPod), etc. running ALL THE TIME?

While I am not a proponent of many tweaks and NEVER EVER EVER any automatic tweaking application. There are occasional tweaks that make sense. For example, would you consider the defrag of the boot files a tweak? I would.
    Just sayin'.

    The last two sentances.....

A lot of people are afraid to throw away the 'knowledge' that made them 'gurus'.

No one is a guru for life. Who cares what you did with win2k and xp. What can you do NOW with Win7?
