    Hello:

Recently (and this is important because I never noticed it till when I did) I find there is a problem I am facing. This happens on most (or all) sites - especially when I am filling in comments, posting on forums etc....like this post, for example. This also happens on Gmail and my example is from Gmail though you could easily replace Gmail with NBR or any other such site.

Essentially, it is this: On Gmail, for example, if I press the left Shift key and the Spacebar at the same time, I am unable to move a space and have the next letter in caps. Here is an example of what I talking about. Let’s say I am writing the following sentence: “ Jill and Jack went up the hill”. The sentence begins with the “ and there is a (deliberately introduced space between the “ and J (in caps). So, the sequence of tying is as follows: Press Left Shift + the “ Key + the Space Bar + the J key… On Gmail the problem occurs right at the beginning, which means the following: Pressing the Left Shift key and keeping it pressed till the letter J is typed results in no movement at all. I have to deliberately lift my finger from the Left Shift Key and press the Space Bar to introduce the space between the “ and the letter J.

This does not happen in Word 2010.

I should also mention that after about a year or so of very heavy use I am sure the KB of my laptop (X201) is filthy and I have not had it cleaned, which I will get done shortly when the machine goes in for maintenance etc. But then again, it is odd that I cannot replicate this problem in Word 2010 (including all components of the Office 2010 suite) or in Evernote (which I use extensively) etc.

Personally, I think the problem is with Chrome (which the browser I use the most) because I can't seem to replicate the problem in IE9 and Opera (both of which I use, albeit sparingly).

Does anyone else face this issue or is it only me - i.e., is this an acknwledged problem in Chrome? I could not find anything on my first few searches though I'll look deeper later today something.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Btw, specs of my machine (if relevant) in the sig below.

Sorry, can't say that I experience this issue in Chrome. Do you have multiple languages installed on your computer?

Nopes. Only English. A few add-ons though - but only a few.

I suppose this doesn't occur in other programs?

No. That's what is so odd about it.

But, here is the thing. Within the last 36 hours or so, I updated Chrome to v 19 (latest stable build) and the problem has disappeared.
