This is a reoccurring problem that I'm having. I have an HP dv7t that was built new in July '09. A few months ago all the USB ports stopped working. I tried resetting the laptop and nothing. I read online about powering down and pulling out the battery to reset it.. that worked. It happened again a month ago and then again just now. I hate having to take out the battery. Is there any other fix to this issue???

Sounds more like a hardware flaw to me.

I have had my USB ports "die" after unplugging a device - then I needed to restart.
It was a bad Creative driver...

But in your case - the battery removal... that seems rahter odd...

Wow, that is a weird problem. Must have something to do with the motherboard.

Try going into Device Manager and uninstalling the USB drivers. Let Windows reinstall them, and see if that helps.

USB issues can be due to System firmware, check if there are any BIOS updates.
