Howdy folks.. it's been a while since I was around, and in that time it came to me that I should try and steer away from Windows yet again. I say yet again, because I've never managed to stay away. I'd really like to get away from windows, and have tried Linux a couple of times.. Here I go trying again.
I just completed installing Ubuntu on my Dell 9300, but I'm not able to get it to recognize my modem. Not a huge deal, except that where I'm currently staying I can't get anything else *ouch*.
So.. if any of you Linux gurus happen to know of something I'm missing.. by all means enlighten me. Also, I'm thinking this may just be a part of what buying a Dell means; I'm screwed unless I get a new modem.
Which brings us to part two of my question... how hard is it to replace a modem out of a laptop? What do I need to get? Is it PCI or something else?
Thanks in advance for your help.
