This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

    Absolutely. Some laptops work better with Linux distros than others, but you can absolutely put Ubuntu onto a laptop.

    okay i was just wondering b/c when visiting the website all i saw was the ubuntu desktop edition and the server edition. So Just wanted to make sure that you could use it for notebooks to? would i get the desktop edition cd then?

    Yes. Keep in mind that laptop hardware doesn't always have a good Linux driver, but you can always get at least basic functionality, and only the newest hardware usually gives any compatibility problem.
