    After closing my laptop to run an errand, I returned to see my screen like this:

    I've tried restarting my computer but it looks the same after start up. How can I return my screen to normal proportions?

    Did you do any graphics card updates? Go to properties on your desktop and go to settings and adjust the slider to like 1024x768 or whatever your old setting was.

    Looks like the screen resolution has been lowered.

    Right click (desktop)-> personalise->display settings
