I'm trying to use Ulead's DVD MovieFactory 6 to rip an AVI video to DVD with menu screens and the works. However, when it comes to actually burning, it won't do it. Why? It's completely overestimating the size of the video and says it won't fit on a 4.7GB DVD.
Has anyone experienced anything similar? Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this issue?

Anybody?

Has anyone perhaps had this problem with a different program?

Are you running Vista? I could never get Movie Factory 7 with latest patch to even run on Vista.
Unfortunately Corel support is abysmal at best. Best thing to do is search google for other MF users and see if you can find an answer. Sorry this post wasn't quite the answer you were looking for, but it's the best I can offer.
EDIT: If you have Nero, nero recode works great, and burns to disk. -
Perhaps my MF is just not working well with Vista and so it overestimates the size of the video file. That could be a possibility I haven't thought about earlier.
And about Nero... I had it and un-installed it. I had so many issues with that program. Firstly, I didn't like how there were just so many applications that came with it. Secondly, it kept messing up my COM Surrogate and causing it to fail. Thirdly, un-installing it took a LOT of hard work because it just didn't want to go away.
I also had Roxio, which came with my computer. I reformated my disk the day my laptop arrived but I made the mistake of re-installing Roxio later on. It was a terrible program. I don't remember why I didn't like it, only that I really didn't like it! And that was another program that was a ***** to uninstall. -
If I remember correctly, only version 7 works properly with Vista. But then again, mine doesn't work at all
About Nero, you can select custom install, and choose what programs you want. I always choose only startsmart, burning rom, and recode, vision (if I want to do video capture/editing).
Having roxio + nero probably isn't a good idea, but I'm not sure. I haven't used roxio in YEARS. But it might create a conflict having both installed.
Otherwise, there's some good freeware out there (but complicated to use!). doom9.org is a great place to find info. -
I like the way Ulead's DVD MovieFactory 6 looks and feels. If only MF7 works with Vista, well then I shall get MF7! Thanks, I will keep you posted. -
UPDATE: There is no MF7...

Oh, hahahahaha, you're right!!
I don't know why I was thinking version 7.
See, I purchased it (version 6) a few months ago, installed it on vista, installed latest patch etc. Tried everything, and never could get it to run. Then I just packed it away in it's box and never thought of it again.
I must have been thinking of Nero 7 (which I know I have). Sorry about that. -
Okay, so now I have a problem! What am I supposed to use?! I refuse to use Nero, Roxio and I can't use MF6. -
I just got Ulead VideoStudio 11 Plus. SAME PROBLEM! And this one is guaranteed to work with Vista!!!!
