I was wondering what the difference was between the 64 bit Ultimate and the 64 bit Home Premium
and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions. Thanks

The differences would be the same comparing 32-bit Ultimate and 32-bit Home Premium, Ultimate comes with more features.

Ultimate has all the features that Buisness has plus Media Center and BitLocker. Home Premium has Media Center, but lacks some of the more hardcore networking features that the average consumer doesn't need. If your in a corporate environment you will want Buisness/Ultimate. The average home user will not be missing any features by running Home Premium.

Vista Ultimate includes all the features that Vista Premium and Business has plus it includes language packs and Vista Ultimate Extras. IMO it's not worth the extra money. Home Premium is good enough for most users.

I have Ultimate x64, and two features that stand out in regular usage are Media Center, and the built-in backup and restore capabilities. I've also had shadow copies save my butt a couple of times when I accidentally overwrote important files with blanks.

If you want some features of Ultimate, but really can't spend the money, consider getting the Business edition. It can be reasonably easy to augment the system with enhanced media capabilities.
