I'm not sure what happened but I have not been able to connect to the internet since last night using IE 8 in Windows 7 Beta. I've tried system restore but it says I don't have any restore points created. If I boot in to XP I can connect just fine.
Any ideas how to fix this or what I'm missing?

Is it only IE that is not working or every other program that requires internet connection? Have you tried using other web-browsers?
Check if your network connection is working properly, you also might want to check whether IE switched to a proxy server (or another proxy if you're using one). -
Thanks Lomaster, nothing will connect to the internet. Tried scanning with NAV 09 & Avast. Nothing. Uninstalled and reinstalled drivers, nothing.

fiveo: I fixed the title of the thread.

Microsoft mentioned that there is an issue with IE8 when installing within W7. In this case, I would recommend another browser, or just reinstall W7, staying away from IE8.

Is wireless and wired both not working?
-
Thanks John B, my bad...typo.
Wired and wireless both not working. Strange, Avast updated it's self again but if I try to update manually or Windows Update, nothing.
I too saw some articles on IE8 not working right under Windows 7 beta.
Can I just uninstall IE 8 (how?? don't see it under programs) and reinstall it or Firefox?
I can ping myself and ping www.google.com.
When I run network diagnostics it says something about DNS...wish I had written it down!
When I run cmd line with "ipconfig" it reads: Media State: Media Disconnected & below that under Connection Specific DNS suffix it's blank.
I'm afraid I need to google and read up on DNS. -
I was able to ping google this morning, worked fine, tried to put in the ip address I got back in my browser to connect and it didn't work.
Created a second user account and was able to connect so maybe I should just give up, use my new user account and delte my first account. -
I too had this issue. Any adapter (LAN, WiFi, WWAN) that was enabled and connected would pick up an IP via DHCP but there would never be a default gateway assigned. Strangely I couldn't manually assign one as all my networking options were greyed out. Yes, my user is in the Administrators local group and it works fine within Vista. I need to try it as a clean install since this one was an upgrade.

I have issue with my laptop Toshiba 6100 2.2GHz connecting to internet also.
It was working fine then it would not do windows update, it would go to the google home page and not update.
Then it would not connect at all one day. It shows that it is connected and working fine but the page will not show. What happened...
I can't even make a new connection , it will not add a new connection, spent hours with some help from others but resorting to the net for help using my other pc.
Thanks for any help -
Well I finally figured it out. I went in to Internet Options, Connections, LAN Settings and unchecked Automatically Detect Settings and I'm on line again using Windows 7 Beta and IE8.
I'm a Time Warner cable customer and they just announced they were hacked last week with a denial of service attack that some customers (including my neighbors) had been unable to connect or had lost connections. I wonder if that's what happened with me? I don't ever remember changing that particular setting. -
I had a similar issue with a recent install of build 7022, I think what happened is that I briefly lost my internet connection and it then tried to do it fancy thing to diagnose the problem, only thing is after doing that I think it enable "auto detect proxy settings" or whatever it says under the LAN settings. So in conclusion I believe that when W7 tries to diagnose a connection problem it enables the auto detect setting which then causes more problems, so it could just be a coincidence.

I had a similar problem with build 7000. My LAN card was not even recognized by the OS. I had to download and install the driver for it to make it work.
