Why is it that I can't add Image Files (ISO) from my computer hard-drive to my external drive?? Every time I try, it says "Error: Cannot copy ______, there is not enough free disk space. Delete one or more files then try again."
What?! This thing has almost 100 Gigs left of free space... don't tell me there's not enough room for a 4 gig ISO file! I've tried it with other files and other ISO files too, and it's always the same... there must be some reason why this is. If so, is there any way to overcome it? I have the ISO info backed up on disc, but I want to keep the file anyway... just not on my computer (takes up too much space)... I'd like to store them on my ex. drive.
Thanks.

Right click on the hard disk icon in My Computer, and then select "Properties". A box should appear, which gives details about the hard disk space. From there, you should be able to see how much space is free on the hard disk. If there is not more than 4 GB, then that is causing the problem. Delete some of the files/folders on the hard disk, and that should fix the problem. Hope this helps.

Quick check: is your file system NTFS or FAT32?
-
Zero: I have 107 GB free... that's what I don't understand! There's plenty of room.. and it only does this with ISO... every other file goes fine.
Gator: I have no idea what those terms mean, or how to check them! -
You can check what format the hard disk is by doing the procedure I posted in my previous post, and then in the Properties box, look what is listed next to "File System". It should list it as FAT32 or NTFS. Those are two different ways Windows tables the hard disk, so that data can be written on it.

As mentioned, just go to My Computer, and go to detailed view, and look at the drivers. If it is FAT32, thats why; Fat32 can't hold files larger then 4gb.

same thing happened with my 500gb WD Mybook, it was formatted as FAT32 and had to convert it to store large files.
