i've recently downloaded something and after extracted it with winrar,it somehow install some unknown startup files. luckily i have WinPatrol and it warned me about those files.
however i can't delete them. i tried manually delete it,tried using CCleaner, msconfig, tried using Quick Startup but failed. i even installed spybot but surprisingly after scan,it didn't found them.
every now and then the WinPatrol display alerts and it's very annoying as i have to click 'No' (don't allow at startup). these files reside in C:/Users/.../AppData/Local/Temp
i'm using Vista btw..
the files name are: khfGARjg.dll and iifcbbYP.dll

What did you download? What alert (name of trojan, virus, etc) did you get? That information would definitely help.
-
well....i wud advice u to download and install kaspersky and activate it with a trial key which is free....it looks more like a trojan case which come through unsigned softwares from dirty sites....
even with the trial key the antivirus wud have all options working.... -
i download a file form torrent sites..not my lucky day
just a normal alert form WinPatrol...
'A new auto startup Program has been detected. This program will run each time you login or restart your machine.
Do you approve the addition of this program startup setting?'
i already have McAfee..it's weird that it don't detect it.. -
so i have used every major antivirus software out there....i switched from mcafee to kaspersky due to the fact it was unable to delete 28 trojans sitting in my system32 folder....which kaspersky did with just 1 restart....
and for the first time in my life i went ahead and bought a software legally (kaspersky antivirus)....
wud advice u try it out once might just work....!!
or try lavasoft adware....its free version wont have realtime monitoring but would do full scans....!! it is gud too....and made especially for adware and spyware.... -
thanks..wow,quite a number of trojan reside in ur pc..i'll try it. thanks again.
-
yeah they normally come through p2p, cracks or the dirty sites
and i used to browse all
anywayz do update....there cud be some other solution to it too -
I would be suspicious of 013 Gopher prefix.
In your shoes, I'd download the free trial for Nod and see if that cleans up your system. Good luck. -

Dump McAfee - IMHO it's one of the worst antivirus applications. Try Kaspersky or NOD32, they are both great antivirus/anti-trojan software suites. I use NOD32 and love it. If you use P2P networks, it's just a matter of time before this happens again. You need to run a software firewall, antivirus and anti-trojan suites, make sure you do not disable the Vista UAC, and do not install or open anything you download before you scan it. I personally wouldn't use my main computer for any P2P stuff - if you choose to P2P, then get yourself a computer that is completely isolated from your network; you won't be bothered if it gets infected and you have to reformat. -
-
but what the heck....!!those heads look wicked..!!
-
After you have cleaned with NOD32 or Kaspersky, you should also try a good anti-spyware program like SUPERantispyware or Malwarebytes'Antimalware.
If you are adamant about not paying for software, then install Avira Antivirus (one of the best, low RAM usage and free), ThreatFire (a free behavioural blocker) and a free anti-spyware program like already mentioned.
Make sure to uninstall McAfee completely before installing another AV program.
Check my signature for download links.
