I am literally ripping the hair out of my head.
For some reason I swore to myself that I would never log back onto here after I hit 888 posts. Turns out that I keep coming back, but I digress.

I recently bought an Iomega ix2-200 which is a 2TB NAS.
Everything is set up, great. Now comes the backing up, IMPOSSIBLE.

I set up a time machine with it, it won't show up on my MacBook.
I installed Retrospect Express HD on 2 laptops and it asks me for the UNC.
Oh, and when I open up "Iomega StorCenter" on any computer it can't find the NAS.

What am I doing wrong to cause with these 3 events?

Nevermind, this software is utterly retarded.

I went back on the original laptop that I installed it on, and POOF! "Your drive is ready to be used now" REALLY!?!??! I MEAN... ARE YOU SERIOUS? After installing it and configuring it, restarting the computer and then opening it again you still didn't make it available? NO! Of course not!!! It just randomly decides to work after a couple weeks of waiting.

UNC means Universal Naming Convention. It is the path to a network resource. Like \\MyComputer\MySharedFolder. Type in the network path.

Interestingly enough, in your sig, innovate means to take a discovery and find another use for it. It is just an extension to imitation.

Yeah, I figured it out really quick. But now it's denying my password when I try to attach a password protected UNC path...

Exactly, we need to stop imitating, we need more uses for what we have, like green energy, inventions, and whatnot. There aren't endless creations out there, that's why we need to better them. Oh, and Alizee is hot hahaha, when I lived in France I had a crush on her when I was like 12 HAAAH.

Make sure you are typing in the correct username. Depending on the interface, you gotta gotta also manually enter in the local computer name depending on how your user accounts are setup.

    I can add a non-password protected UNC...
So I just disabled the password on the backup folders.

All it says is "UNC" and then is asks for a username and password.
Where do I manually enter the local computer name?

I'm not sure how the Iomega stores usernames. I was thinking your backup folders were hosted on a separate computer.

If there is no username setting to adjust just try typing in the password with the username blank...

I'll have to try that tomorrow or on a different computer since I already initiated the backup on a password free folder.

What about my MacBook not recognizing any of the shared folders, the NAS or Time Machine dedicated folder?

Did you try typing in the UNC and seeing if you could connect to it anyways?

No, it instantly asks for a password if it's protected.

I am still trying to get the password thing to work!

How can I set up the iomega ix2-200 now that I have a router running DD-WRT in front of a modem/router and the iomega is attached to the modem/router?
Should I just connect it straight to the iomega? Or is there a way to get a UNC to it?

The Iomega should work just fin with a router attached to it.
