I recently checked my task manager which told me that I had around 41 processes running on my computer.

I was wondering if anyone can recommend a site which will tell me which are necessary, and which I can end.

    Thanks

    Well I've found a website...

    www.processlibrary.com

but now i have the problem of it giving me conflicting reports on some of the processes.

Eg - spoolsv.exe - it told me that it isn't critical but shouldnt be terminated unless causing problems. Then it says that it's registered as a backdoor program that allows malicious users to enter into your computer and access it from a remote location for access to passwords, internet banking etc.

But then it gives the recommendation that, "Should not be disabled, required for essential applications to work properly."

How am I to decide with these conflicting points?

P.S. - Many of the processes that ive looked up have also had conflicting reports...with many being registered as trojans, but then giving me the recommendation that they are essential to the running of computer.

    Please help!!! :( :(

I've found that it depends on the directory location that the process runs from wintasks...as to whether it's malicious or not.

Can anyone tell me how to find what its directory location is?

    Thanks

spoolsv.exe is your print driver. It allows you to use the print manager. Leave that alone, wont take up space. You might want to check the antivirus processes as well as any video and audio driver programs.
